Macquarie River Food and Fibre congratulates member groups, Trangie-Nevertire, Marthaguy and Tenandra irrigation schemes for their success in obtaining funding through Round 1 of the Commonwealth Government's Private Irrigator Infrastructure Operators Program. The funding helps secure the future viability of these schemes, and will no doubt provide a boost to the local economy when project works get underway.
The irrigation schemes have worked closely with the Australian Government to develop comprehensive Irrigation Modernisation Plans as part of the Sustainable Rural Water Use and Infrastructure program. The Plans identified ways to improve the efficiency and productivity of their water use and ultimately contribute to the long term sustainability of the Macquarie Valley. The funding now enables these schemes to implement key elements of their Modernisation Plans.
